ORANGE COUNTY, CA–(OC Register, Dec 7th, 2014) – An incubator program focused on growing early-stage tech companies is coming to Orange County, an area that has long had trouble keeping similar projects alive and homegrown firms from moving away.
EvoNexus, a familiar name in San Diego’s startup scene, is launching an outpost Jan. 1 at a sprawling office campus adjacent to UC Irvine.
“The Irvine area is very similar to San Diego, the tech sector, life sciences, medical devices … ” said Rory Moore, CEO of CommNexus, a San Diego tech trade group that operates EvoNexus.
“We want to keep the best and brightest here,” he added.
The incubator will be one branch of the “The Vine,” what’s billed as a self-sustaining, entrepreneurial community that also comprises a co-working area and move-in ready office suites. Everything will be housed in a two-story, 63,500-square-foot building at University Research Park, owned by The Irvine Co., which seeded The Vine.
