Bold Women Innovate
April 24, 2018
Part #4 in the Bold Women Series
EvoNexus and Intuit partner to lead a practical program, leading women & men through the Design Thinking and Lean Startup methodologies. We’ll start with a panel of women entrepreneurs who are currently incubating at EvoNexus. They will share their entrepreneurial journey and we’ll deep dive on the problem, customer benefit and their startup’s solution. Also, they’ll share what they wish they had known prior to launching their product and bringing it to market.
After the panel discussion, participants will work in small groups as Intuit Innovation Catalysts and EvoNexus entrepreneurs and team members guide them through the phases of solving a problem using Intuit’s D4D, Design for Delight, framework. Participants are welcome to bring their own business ideas and problem, but this is not required to attend. We’ll end the evening’s program with a “walk through” of the EvoNexus incubation program and process.

Entrepreneur Panel
Dr. Chorom Pak, President and CEO at Lynx Biosciences, Inc.
Dr. Pak founded Lynx in 2013 to commercialize MicroC3™, a cytomics platform technology developed during her PhD. The technology, currently in its 2nd clinical trial, was shown to rapidly predict clinical response of individual patients to multiple drugs and provides clinicians with actionable readouts. After receiving her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Dr. Pak served as the Clinical and R&D Lead at Cellectar Biosciences (NASDAQ:CLRB), where she co-developed a drug against multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer, and advanced it to Phase 2 trials. Dr. Pak was an NCI training grant fellow, holds five patents, and has nearly 10 years of R&D experience with hematological cancers and microfluidic platforms.
Emily Rotolo, CEO & Founder at SimpleForms
Emily graduated from Georgetown University, where she was a Division I athlete and pre-med. Before beginning mcat studies Emily thought it would be smart to take an internship in business to explore options. She started with Bisnow Media and was hooked on entrepreneurship as her future. After living the problem while working with Summit Series on Summit Outside, Emily set out to solve the numerous problems around hiring; hiring outside a traditional work environment, confusion from both sides of the table, employers and employees on the correct forms to complete, how they need to be stored or filed and creating a streamlined process that could work for any industry. Because SimpleForms is not built to be an HRIS system it’s growth unrestricted.
Leilani Macedo, Founder & President at CLiCS
Throughout her 25 year career in the professional salon industry, Leilani has been a successful independent stylist and salon owner working closely with many talented owners and stylists giving her a wide range of experience with salon business and client interaction. By identifying a number of inefficiencies with salon operations, it led to her founding a technology and color company designing solutions for today’s busy salons. This new innovation will create benchmarks for salon owners by organizing and managing the color room previously unavailable to salons, that gives them the ability to widen their profit margins, giving new tools to their staff and reducing stress on the environment.
