Network Level Testing Field to Lab Solutions

February 9, 2012

The Emerging Wireless SIG Presents…

The radio channel is a fundamental design criterion of any wireless device. The cabled connection performance is never achieved in wireless devices; however we can approach the performance limit by intelligently utilizing the radio propagation information. Clearly, the biggest gains in terms of system performance can be achieved at network level, where multitudes of users and cells are tested simultaneously. This presentation discusses methodologies for bringing the radio channel into the test lab in a realistic manner and advantages of that in regards to product development. The presentation is focused on wireless designers and developers. For more on this seminar please click here to visit the Elektrobit Website.

Jukka-Pekka Nuutinen
Elektrobit Inc.

Jukka-Pekka Nuutinen started his career in 1990 at Tampere University of technology as a research assistant where he completed his Master’s degree and post graduate studies. His research was focused on electromagnetic waves and how to solve them numerically. In 1996 he joined Nokia as senior research engineer, focusing on EMC standardization and interference controlling in WCDMA (3G) systems. In 2003 he joined EB (Elektrobit), where he has had several positions as senior researcher as well as managing the research programs. Mr. Nuutinen is one of the key contributors to the MIMO OTA project at EB (Elektrobit). He has authored and co-authored several TD’s for COST2100 and he has authored and co-authored several scientific papers (most of them on the review). He has also submitted several patent applications (pending) on the MIMO OTA test system.

Overall, Mr. Nuutinen has several patents in the area of interference cancellation, radio channel and test systems. He has also published several papers on the above mentioned areas. He has been active in research collaboration with Universities and as part of that he has been reviewing several papers for IEEE.
