SD Hardware Hackers SIG: A Technical Overview of ARM Microcontrollers, Past and Future.

ARM Microcontrollers power most of the mobile devices on the market, today. This event’s Featured Presenter is Mr. Ian Rickards. Ian is a Senior Product Manager at ARM Inc. and he’s currently working on performance analysis of the ARM Cortex family CPUs. He has worked at ARM since 1992 and was previously Product Manager for ARM’s first MPCore products including Cortex-A9.
Ian will discuss the history of ARM, range of current Cortex CPUs, the NEON SIMD extension, and the future AArch64 architecture;
The topics include;
–              Brief history of ARM Inc.
–              The ARM Architecture, versions and implementations
–              Quick introduction to NEON SIMD and how to program it
–              Latest 64-bit version of the ARM Architecture
–              Software porting and code compatibility for 64-bit ARM
