Tablets: The New Media Platform

Similar to the advance of the smartphone, tablet computers are redefining the “mobile computing” space and taking the world of consumer electronics by storm – we are at the beginning of the tablet revolution. So why are tablets so popular? Four factors have come into play at an opportune time: physical design, functionality, broadband wireless and the convenient availability of compelling apps through app stores. These factors have allowed tablets to become much more than on-the-go computers; they can serve as e-readers, personal media players, gaming devices, dynamic in-store signage, and connected medical clipboards.

So how will we use tablets next? How will they evolve? How will carriers need to adapt? What will the evolution of apps look like? Will next-generation processors spawn super tablets? Find out the answers to these questions and more by joining us in a panel discussion with key industry players, Rob Chandhok of Qualcomm, Christy Wyatt of Motorola Mobility, Diana Zaccardi of Verizon Wireless, and moderated by Lucy Hood of USC, for a lively discussion about tablet computers – the new and ever-expanding media platform.
