The Robotics Era Arrives:
From Sci-Fi to Reality
It’s been 11 years since Steven Spielberg directed sci-fi thriller movie, Minority Report. The movie gives us a glimpse at the future of robotics as the lead character, Tom Cruise is chased by an army of government deployed robotic spider spies attempting to hunt him down!
Robotic helicopters, insect robots and ground based systems are capable of missions once only shown in science fiction movies. Advances in materials, science, electric motors, semiconductors, nano-science, 3D printing, wireless devices and network technology bring Sci-Fi to reality.
Robotics is already impacting agriculture, search & rescue, military operations, infrastructure surveillance, and planning and early warning systems. According to San Diego based BAE Systems, “robotic technologies give our soldiers another set of eyes and ears for use in urban environments and complex terrain; places where they cannot go or where it would be too dangerous.”
Charles Bergan (VP Engineering, Qualcomm) will discuss what Qualcomm sees as the future opportunities in the area of robotics and how continuing advances in silicon technology and broadband wireless deployment drives this exciting new sector. Please join our keynote speaker and local exhibitors representing the region’s most promising emerging companies in the robotics field. Be prepared to be amazed at what you see flying around the Qualcomm Q auditorium venue!
