Women in Tech with Dr. Tina Nova

Please join the EvoNexus Industry Leaders Series SIG as we conclude our 3-part Series on Women in Technology! Join us on October 7th for Dr. Tina Nova’s keynote, to hear the accomplishments and challenges she has faced, and her perspective on how to become a leader and contributor in the science and technology fields. Dr. Nova has been ranked in the Top 10 Women in Biotech by FierceBiotech and Wired magazine and is a large contributor to the biotechnology and bioscience field.

Tina S, Nova, Ph.D., is currently the President & CEO of a new molecular diagnostics company in San Diego focused on the identification of organ specific diseases in blood. She is the former SVP & GM of the Oncology Business Unit of Illumina, Inc. Prior to joining Illumina, she served as President & CEO of Genoptix Medical Laboratory, a Novartis Company, which she co-founded in 2000. She was also the President & COO of Nanogen, Inc., VP & COO of Selective Genetics, Executive Director of Ligand Pharmaceuticals and started her career at Hybritech, Inc., where she held various research and management positions Dr. Nova serves on the Board of Directors of Arena Pharmaceuticals, and was formerly on the founding board appointed by the lieutenant governor of the Independent Citizen’s Oversight Committee supporting the California Stem Cell Initiative, Proposition 71. She is also a member of the newly formed board of the Rady Pediatric Genomics and Systems Medicine Institute. She received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine where she graduated with Honors in Research, and holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside followed by a post-doctorate fellowship at the New York University Medical School. She has received number honors and awards and issued patents over her career, including being named one of the Top 10 Women in Biotech by FierceBiotech, and was recently in the May 2015 issue of Wired magazine.
