Derrick Oien remembers waking up on Saturday mornings as a child and making a beeline for the newspaper to catch up on sports scores.
These days, some newspapers no longer print information about middle and high school sports. Oien had an idea though. How about an app that would crowdsource hyperlocal scores?
“We had looked at the sports technology category and saw that a lot of people had looked at the statistics approach or the recruiting approach, and we thought that really people just want the scores of the games in their community,” Oien said.
So, he approached CommNexus, and with its support, created ScoreStream, an app for iPhones and Androids.
