(San Diego Union Tribune, April 8, 2015) – ScoreStream, a San Diego media startup that provides crowd-sourced local sports scores in real time, has raised $2 million in funding to expand its technology platform.
The round, announced on Monday, was led by Sinclair Digital Ventures – a division of local television station owner Sinclair Broadcast Group. Previous investors Avalon Ventures and New Enterprise Associates also participated, along with individual investors from Baltimore and Los Angeles.
“Sinclair is an ideal partner and investor for ScoreStream given its distribution scale, in-house technical expertise, dedication to local sports, and its commitment to the digital transformation of media,” said ScoreStream Chief Executive Derrick Oien, who previous held top jobs at Chumby Industries and MP3.com.
