MicroPower Technologies Inc., a San Diego-based provider of surveillance solutions, announced Monday that Rocco Fabiano has joined the company’s board of directors.
Fabiano, the current chairman of Gimbal Inc., has a range of experience in both enterprise environments and entrepreneurial organizations.
Fabiano, who was previously CEO of Gimbal Inc., was instrumental in transitioning Gimbal to a stand-alone company. Prior to Gimbal, Fabiano joined Qualcomm(Nasdaq: QCOM) in 2010 as president of the company’s Firehorn mobile commerce subsidiary, which later became Qualcomm Retail Solutions.
Before joining Qualcomm, Fabiano oversaw four subsidiaries of Household International (now known as HSBC North America), which accounted for $35 billion in assets and $650 million per year in after-tax profits.
Over the course of his career, Fabiano also spearheaded the launch of a number of start-up organizations, taking two businesses public and selling two others during this period.
In 1997, he was honored as the Ernst & Young/Nasdaq Entrepreneur of the Year.
