Industry Leaders Emerge as New EvoNexus Board Members

Masanori Hamamatsu, Technical Director of the Strategic Research Department, Kawasaki Heavy Industries (USA) (KWHYI),  is responsible for Kawasaki R&D projects and he is currently working on research & technology scouting, business development and investment deal sourcing of IoT/AI applications/Robotics/Mobility/Energy related to Kawasaki current and future business.  He started his career at Kawasaki Heavy Industries in 1991, where he spent 25 years in the R&D Department.  Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. was founded in 1896 in Japan.  Kawasaki is currently engaged in the manufacture of aircraft, ships, engines, rolling stock, construction machinery, industrial robot, energy plant, and consumer items, such as motorcycles and JET-SKI watercraft.  During the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018 Kawasaki Group generated worldwide sales of approximately US$13.9 billion.

Joe Boerio, Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer – Investment Management Data Science, Fintech and Rapid Development, Franklin Templeton Investments (NYSE: BEN).  As CTO, Mr. Boerio has the responsibility for setting and executing the firm’s strategic technology direction for Investment Management, Data Science and Cyber Security.  These areas include, investment management DevOps & applications development, data science & analytics, market & alternative data services, FT’s internal FinTech venture, cyber security, enterprise vendor management, rapid development and incubation.  Mr. Boerio is a strong visionary global leader passionate about business value and innovative transformations with 30+ years of proven execution results in enterprise information technology, operational excellence and global business enablement.  Mr. Boerio is also the Chair of the Investment Company Institute Technology Committee based out of Washington DC and serves on the Board of the FinTech Sandbox in Boston.

Dr. Nitin J. Shah, Principal Innovator, Nokia Bell Labs, Nokia (NOK).  His area of expertise is in corporate and product strategy, network architecture and software development for mobile communications, marketing and business development.  Dr. Shah is an innovator and inventor, with a record of developing products, technologies and architectures for mobile networks from concept to commercialization.  He has experience with multi-national corporations, start-ups and solo consulting in the mobile communications and digital media industries.  His primary focus has been on roadmaps and market disruptions to drive profitable innovation in mobile networking.  He holds 15 patents in the area of mobile networks, digital media and quantum engineering.  His past clients/employers include AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Ericsson, Nokia and DoCoMo.

Michael Matthews, Director of Partnerships, EMD Performance Materials (the North America hightech materials business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany), is focused on identifying and accelerating the commercialization of technologies in areas of strategic interest to EMD.  He has over twenty years of experience in the electronic materials industry where he led the development and commercialization of new materials and technologies for the semiconductor packaging industry.  Prior to joining EMD, Michael was the CEO of Ormet Circuits Inc, an electronic materials company in San Diego, CA that developed environmentally-friendly interconnect materials for the electronics industry.  Ormet was purchased by EMD Performance Materials in 2015.  Michael holds a BS in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY and an MBA from Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA.
