(San Diego Union Tribune, May 27, 2015) – A San Diego startup toSense, which makes an in-home heart monitoring necklace aimed at preventing hospital readmissions for patients with chronic illnesses, said Wednesday it has received approval from federal regulators to launch its product.
The company has been operating under the radar for two years after it spun out of Perminova, which is working on cardiovascular and surgery information management software. But toSense has gotten more attention recently thanks to cardiologist Dr. Eric Topol, chief academic officer at Scripps Health.
In January, Topol demonstrated the toSense necklace on the CBS This Morning show to highlight the promise of remote health monitoring technology.
