Vice President, Futurewei Technologies
Dr. June Wang serves as Vice President at Futurewei Technologies which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Huawei Technologies in the United States. She has over 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry in companies such as Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Huawei, etc. Her experience spans roles within product management, strategy, marketing, and business development in telecom infrastructure, wireless terminal, and mobile ecosystem domains. She has also been a pivotal leader in account management and has interfaced with large U.S operators such as Verizon Wireless.
In 2014, Dr. Wang joined Huawei and built a strategic cooperation department that is responsible for collaboration between Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) and key ecosystem partners such as, but not limited to, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Adobe, and eBay. In 2015, Dr. Wang helped drive breakthroughs like partnering with Google on the Nexus 6P and Huawei Android Wear. In 2016 she also led a team to build a joint lab with Microsoft in support of Huawei’s PC product line. Furthermore, she led efforts to gain Google VR/AR/Lens Product Area certification on Huawei HiSilicon products and enabled Kirin series chipsets to support YouTube and Amazon video content. Dr. Wang also supported partner efforts on antifragmentation and UX improvements and the first rollout of Android Go and Android Messaging (RCS).
Dr. Wang’s department manages master agreements/contracts that are fully compliant to local regulations with top partners in the ecosystem. By interfacing with the Google Android team and completed over 100,000 Technical Approvals annually, her department has contributed to propel Huawei CBG to become the 2nd largest Smartphone supplier globally in 2019 where 240 million units were shipped worldwide. Most recently her team engages with the company’s highest priority which is building up Huawei’s Mobile Ecosystem.
Dr. June Wang was born in Beijing China and came to the United States in 1993 for higher education with a full scholarship. She received her Ph.D. degree at the School of Communication and Information Science at the University of South Florida, and Certificate of MIT China IT Leadership Workshop by Industry Liaison Program of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
