2025: A Year of Records

The past year was transformative for our Portfolio Companies. We achieved a historical high in capital raised, securing $619M. Total venture capital invested in the portfolio now exceeds $2.4B. Our cumulative success now includes 60 acquisitions and 1 IPO. Additionally, we just learned that another Portfolio Company plans to go public this year.

  • Public Markets & Exits: EvoNexus has achieved stock ownership outcomes through the IPO of Carlsmed and the exits of Sensoride, Ucap Power, and FBR Medical.
  • Infrastructure & Branding: Our new locations in San Diego & Irvine continue to enhance our brand equity and deal flow. I would like to specifically acknowledge EvoNexus Director Dave Marino (Hughes Marino) and the Irvine Co. for their instrumental roles in our real estate relocation and expansion.

Strategic Leadership & Team Expansion

We have significantly strengthened our leadership and operational expertise with several key appointments:

New Directors

  • Nandhu Nandhakumar, PhD: Currently the CTO of Saudi Public Investment Fund, Alat.
  • Dan Kline: Founder & CEO of Novo Engineering, bringing extensive experience as design engineer and product development entrepreneur.
  • Ranjeet Banerjee: CEO of Cold Chain Technologies; previously served as Corporate EVP and President of North America for Becton Dickinson, managing $6B in revenue.
  • Kate Gilchrist: Director and Board Member at Alto Innovations, with a deep background in venture capital, AI transformation, and strategy consulting.

New EvoNexus Team Members

  • John “Rick” LeMoine, MD: Serving as Executive in Residence and Chief Medical Officer; he was formerly the CMIO of Sharp HealthCare.
  • John Langan, PhD: Executive in Residence and former CTO of EMD Electronics (the electronics business of Merck KGaA), with over 35 years of semiconductor R&D experience.
  • Bob Genthert, CPA: Managing Director of EvoNexus Irvine and co-founder of EvoNexus Portfolio Company ecoATM (acquired for $350M); he previously held senior leadership roles at Time Warner and The Walt Disney Company.
  • Devanshi Tomar: Graduate In Residence at EvoNexus, supporting early-stage startups in medtech and digital health; community health leader and health policy advocate with experience translating care and policy into scalable solutions.
  • Nicole Yeager: Assisting with EvoNexus Operations part-time; currently a senior at San Diego State University (International Business) and former 2025 EvoNexus Summer Intern who has returned to provide operational support through her final college semester.
  • Dacian Rose: Full-time EvoNexus Employee; a recent graduate of the University of San Diego (BBA – Finance) and former active-duty Marine with five years of experience as a Signals Intelligence Operator and Russian Cryptologic Linguist, complemented by previous service as a staff representative in the California State Legislature.

  • ODIN Diagnostics | odin-diagnostics.com: A unique neurological triage, utilizing an AI- powered portable headset and eye-tracking technology to provide objective, non- invasive concussion and TBI assessments on the sports sidelines or in the clinic.
  • Owaves | owaves.com: The world’s first physician-designed wellness planner that uses BodyClock AI to synchronize personal schedules with circadian biology, maximizing mental health and physical performance.

Irvine Office Cohort

  • Allevalux | allevalux.com: Advancing clinical-grade photomedicine with specialized light-therapy devices engineered to accelerate tissue repair and improve neurological outcomes for patients suffering from acute migraines, photo-phobia, and post- traumatic headaches.
  • Feminora | Redefining the standard of gynecological care by re-engineering the vaginal speculum to maximize physician precision and significantly reduce patient discomfort during diagnostic procedures.

Specialized Insights: 2025 SIG Series

Our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) continue to provide elite forums for subject matter expertise and strategic networking. Key sessions from the past year include:

  • GPS SIG – A Fireside Chat with a GPS Pioneer: Featured Steve Poizner, Co-Founder & CEO of oneNav and pioneer of GPS integration in mobile phones (SnapTrack), moderated by Craig Miller, President of Viasat Government. The session explored the resilience of Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) infrastructure.
  • Orbits / Space SIG – How New Space and Satellites Are Changing The World: A high- level panel featuring Matt Grob (CTO, Globalstar), Ron Reedy, PhD (Co-Chair), and Shameem Hashmi (SVP Strategy & Global Markets, Viasat), moderated by Craig Miller (President, Viasat Government).
  • In-Memoriam: Ron passed away suddenly, 3 months after this event. He was my Co-Founder at Peregrine Semiconductor (IPO 2012). His professional legacy lives on in billions of smartphones and IoT devices today.
  • Sat to Cell SIG – Connectivity Pioneers in Conversation: A fireside chat with industry leaders Paul Jacobs, PhD (CEO, Globalstar; Former CEO & Executive Chairman of Qualcomm) and Craig Miller (President of Viasat Government). The session explored the “direct-to-device” revolution and the evolving landscape of satellite communications and space technology.
