Dan Kline

Founder & CEO, Novo Engineering

Dan Kline is the Founder & CEO of Novo Engineering. He is a career design engineer and a longtime product design and development entrepreneur. He loves beautiful design, inspired solutions, and great execution and believes there is an optimal solution for every technical and usability challenge.

Dan is a mechanical engineer with a lifelong passion for art, architecture, and design. He is a UCSD graduate (BSME), a former hardware developer for HP, and a veteran of several medical device startups, including a biofeedback company he founded. His professional career has been devoted to developing new products for the medical device, life science, and printer industries. Dan founded NOVO Engineering in 2004.

Dan and his team have dedicated themselves to building a company that delivers optimal solutions predictably and cost-effectively. To achieve this goal, Novo collected engineering talent, developed systems, and built infrastructure that facilitate exceptionally designed and engineered solutions. A sample of Novo’s clients includes Dexcom, HP, Illumina, Nuvasive, Thermo Fisher, Amgen, Medtronic, and the EvoNexus graduate companies Biolinq and Pleno.

Dan is also a partner in a prefab homebuilding company. After building a custom home in the early 2000s using traditional building practices, Dan was frustrated by the inefficiencies of conventional homebuilding. His product development experience told him there had to be a better way. He became interested in prefabricated building methods, eventually becoming a partner in a homebuilding startup, Proteus Homes. Proteus has developed a prefab-panelized homebuilding process that significantly benefits the homeowner, the neighborhood, and the environment.
