Alex is a MedTech finance and operations executive, former equity analyst, and originally a surgical resident. He led med tech equity research for Lazard Capital Markets and Wedbush Morgan, as an I.I. ranked analyst, from 1996 – 2007. Beginning in 2007 he held CFO, COO, or CEO roles at private and public companies, including Biolase, Circuit Therapeutics, Arstasis, and EvoNexus portfolio companies Zelegent and Carlsmed. He served on the Board of Directors of Paragonix Technologies, which was acquired in 2024 for $460 million by Gettinge AG. He currently serves on the Board of ophthalmology company Insightful Instruments, and previously served on the Boards of 8i Acquisition Corp. (a publicly traded SPAC), Medcura (formerly Gel-e), Neumedicines, and Biolase. Alex has an M.D. from Harvard Medical School, a B.A. in Biophysics from Cornell University, and is a CFA charter holder.
