Across our San Diego and Irvine campuses, portfolio companies are landing major acquisitions, raising new capital, earning global recognition, and bringing breakthrough technology to market — while a new cohort of founders joins the family. Portfolio Milestones:
Fabric8Labs — to be acquired by TDK in a deal valued at up to $400 million
EvoNexus graduate company Fabric8Labs has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by TDK Corporation in a deal valued at up to $400 million. Announced in June 2026, the acquisition recognizes the San Diego company’s pioneering work in Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM) — a metal 3D-printing process that delivers advanced thermal management for AI data centers, reducing accelerator temperatures by up to 7°C per kilowatt. TDK Ventures had backed Fabric8Labs since its seed round; upon regulatory clearance, Fabric8Labs will become a wholly owned TDK subsidiary.
QuSecure — Named a 2026 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer
EvoNexus graduate company QuSecure has been named to the World Economic Forum’s 2026 Technology Pioneers cohort, recognizing its leadership in post-quantum cryptography (PQC) — and joining a class of honorees whose past members, named in their startup days, include Google, Nvidia, PayPal, and Palantir. QuSecure’s flagship QuProtect platform gives security teams a single cryptographic control plane to swap algorithms and roll out full post-quantum migration across an entire network without application rewrites. Customers already include U.S. defense agencies, global financial institutions, and critical-infrastructure providers. The company is led by CEO Rebecca Krauthamer.
Sesh — Wins the 2026 SDSU San Diego Angel Conference and a $200,000 investment
San Diego precision immuno-oncology company Sesh won the 2026 SDSU San Diego Angel Conference, securing a $200,000 investment to advance its precision-oncology blood-test platform. Sesh’s RELOAD technology is a real-time liquid-biopsy platform that enables serialized monitoring of immunotherapy response through predictive biomarkers. Selected from a competitive applicant pool that also included fellow EvoNexus company PolyVascular, Sesh followed the win weeks later by taking the San Diego Innovation Council “Golden Ticket” prize — a strong signal of the clinical promise and deal-readiness of EvoNexus MedTech companies. Led by CEO Andrew Sinkoe.
Virchow Medical has closed a $4 million seed round led by Cerberus Ventures to scale its Crow’s Nest Biopsy Catchment System and the Virchow Vault, the world’s first liquid-specimen biorepository. Virchow captures the tens of thousands of tumor cells normally discarded on used biopsy needles, letting oncologists order genomic sequencing even when fixed tissue is insufficient — the case for 30–50% of biopsied cancer patients — to expand access to targeted, precision therapies and reduce repeat biopsies. Founded by serial entrepreneur Dr. Alexander Arrow.
Oculi — Named a winner of the IC Taiwan Grand Challenge
Edge-AI vision company and EvoNexus graduate Oculi was named a winner of the 4th batch of the IC Taiwan Grand Challenge, selected from 209 startup and academic teams across 38 countries. Oculi’s patented IntelliPixel and Software Defined Vision Sensor re-architect how visual data is captured and processed — delivering always-on, low-power, low-latency, privacy-preserving vision for Physical AI: “see everything, store nothing.” The company is led by President and CEO Patrick Henry — a former EvoNexus Executive in Residence and two-time EvoNexus portfolio-company CEO who took Entropic Communications public in its 2007 IPO — alongside founder and CTO Dr. Charbel Rizk.
Obsidian Sensors — Thermal imaging of the Sorrento Fire featured on NBC 7 San Diego
When the Sorrento Fire burned roughly 90 acres near the headquarters of EvoNexus graduate Obsidian Sensors in June 2026, the team deployed one of its thermal cameras and captured what the naked eye couldn’t — cutting through smoke to reveal active flames, aircraft, and hotspots in real time. NBC 7 San Diego featured the footage, highlighting thermal imaging’s potential as a critical tool for civilian fire safety.
Welcoming New Companies to the EvoNexus Family
In 2026 we’re proud to welcome five new companies into incubation:
Neurik AI
Building the nervous system for Physical AI: a unified platform for synthetic data generation, model training, simulation, and edge deployment that lets autonomous systems such as robotics perceive and act reliably in dynamic, real-world industrial environments. Neurik’s physics-grounded data synthesis generates real-to-sim environments that obey the laws of mass and energy conservation to eliminate the long-tail failures of conventionally trained models, while its edge runtime delivers sub-12-millisecond, physics-informed inference on low-power hardware with no cloud dependency.
iBeam Materials
A Los Alamos National Laboratory spinout enabling the next generation of high-performance electronics by depositing crystal-aligned thin films on flexible metal foils using proprietary ion-beam-assisted deposition (IBAD) — unlocking GaN microLEDs, power devices, and sensors on substrates that were previously impossible, with a path to low-cost roll-to-roll manufacturing. Founded by Dr. Vladimir Matias.
Osoosi Corp
Elevating general-aviation safety with the Halo AI Copilot, the first product built on Osoosi’s Artificial Pilot Awareness (APA) engine. Running on an iPad with no aircraft modification, Halo fuses vision, voice, and flight data to read checklists, clarify ATC communications, monitor aircraft state, and recommend routes, fuel, and in-flight adjustments — delivering real-time situational awareness and decision support for the roughly 700,000 active private pilots in the U.S. Osoosi launched its MVP in late 2025 and is now refining APA with active test pilots in real cockpit environments.
XRCare
An XR-AI point-of-care co-pilot that pairs spatial computing with agentic AI to support clinical teams, pharmacies, and care-team training. It fuses real-time visual, audio, sensor, and EMR context to anticipate clinician needs, surface next-best actions before errors occur, and streamline documentation, while immersive XR simulations accelerate onboarding and sharpen decision-making under pressure — reducing medication errors and cognitive load across hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.
Prismatic Biotech
On a mission to improve patient access to life-saving cell therapies by solving their toughest manufacturing bottleneck: quality control. Prismatic is building an automated, end-to-end QC platform to replace the slow, manual release testing that constrains cell-therapy production — accelerating the path from manufacturing line to patient.

- EvoNexus Startup Showcase — BLPN & BioInternational 2026. We welcomed members of BLPN (Building Legendary Professional Networks) to our San Diego location to kick off BioInternational 2026, with EvoNexus startups taking the stage before a room of investors, life-science founders, and connectors — all gathered around one shared mantra: find someone to help, repeat.
- Finally Quiet! Phase I Pilot Launch. EvoNexus Irvine hosted the official Phase I pilot launch of Finally Quiet’s patented, medical-grade wireless communication technology for loud clinical environments, bringing together clinicians, investors, and the medtech and dental-innovation community to mark the milestone.
- School of Young Entrepreneurs Summer Camp. EvoNexus welcomed students from the School of Young Entrepreneurs summer camp — a program run by the Warren-Walker Promise Foundation and sponsored by UCSD and SDSU — walking the next generation of San Diego innovators through what it takes to turn an idea into a real company.
- AI Special Interest Group with Malek Moubasher. EvoNexus graduate-company founder Malek Moubasher led a hands-on AI Special Interest Group (SIG) session at our San Diego (UTC) location, walking attendees through real generative-AI applications — part of EvoNexus’s growing AI programming across both campuses.
- Weekly GenAI Meetup (Irvine). Our recurring GenAI Meetup at EvoNexus Irvine reached 26 consecutive weeks — a full half-year — now in a hands-on, workshop-style format where attendees follow AI prompts step-by-step on their own laptops. Made possible by the continued support of the Irvine Company and Microsoft.
- Weekend AI Workshop with Alok Singh. EvoNexus hosted a Saturday deep-dive workshop on artificial intelligence for industry professionals and our AI portfolio companies, led by Alok Singh — covering generative AI and its technical and mathematical underpinnings, with participants sharing how they’re putting AI to work in their own organizations.
- SoCal FENG Monthly Meetup. EvoNexus Irvine hosted the SoCal FENG (Financial Executive Networking Group) monthly meetup for a packed, in-person session, with Malek Moubasher presenting on how AI is transforming finance and accounting.
Board & Community Highlights
The EvoNexus community includes leaders building the chips, networks, satellites, medicines, and financial tools shaping the years ahead. A few recent highlights from across that community:
- Kathy Ouellette, President & CEO of Salaera, unified Perma Pure and Maxtec into the newly formed company — and weeks later, Salaera was named Halma’s “Healthcare Company of the Year.”
- Adeia secured a multi-year semiconductor IP license with AMD. (Adeia’s Chief Semiconductor Officer, Craig Mitchell, serves on the EvoNexus board.)
- Intuit is driving the company deeper into agentic AI, including a partnership with Anthropic to bring customizable AI agents to TurboTax and QuickBooks. (Alex Balazs, CTO of Intuit, serves on the EvoNexus Board.)
- Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon Reality Elite, its next-generation platform for AI-powered spatial computing — a notable leap for the future of XR. (Qualcomm’s Ziad Asghar, SVP & GM for XR, Wearables and Personal AI, serves on the EvoNexus board.)
- InterDigital debuted the world’s first collaborative cellular and Wi-Fi 6G sensing architecture with Türk Telekom at Mobile World Congress 2026, alongside its acquisition of AI-video startup Deep Render. (InterDigital CTO Rajesh Pankaj serves on the EvoNexus board.)
- Viasat secured a U.S. Space Force prime contract under the Protected Tactical SATCOM-Global (PTS-G) program to deliver the first of a new fleet of maneuverable, anti-jam satellites — a milestone for national-security space. (Craig Miller, President of Viasat Government, serves on the EvoNexus board.)
