Tomnod graduated from the EvoNexus incubator in March 2013 and was subsequently acquired by DigitalGlobe, the leading commercial satellite imaging company. DigitalGlobe sent satellites over the Philippines after Super Typhoon Haiyan hit to analyze the damage of houses, roads, bridges, and large buildings, and the technology used to do this was created and developed by Tomnod.
EvoNexus alum Tomnod, which was originally a research project out of UCSD, utilizes the power of crowdsourcing to identify objects and places in satellite images typically for search and rescue purposes. Tomnod is able to unlock the value of timely satellite imagery and provide insight about the planet for commercial and government customers.
