SAN DIEGO / OCTOBER 25TH, 2023 Sharp HealthCare and technology incubator EvoNexus have partnered to bring new health care technologies to market by helping launch innovative startups in San Diego and beyond. The two San Diego-based non-profits will work together to identify early-stage companies and help facilitate the development, testing and deployment of new products and services that positively impact patient care.

Earlier this year, Sharp announced the launch of Sharp Ventures, the “innovation arm” of San Diego’s largest health system, which is dedicated to bringing new technologies to market that improve patient outcomes and reduce costs. This mission aligns with EvoNexus’ incubation program for medical technology (medtech) companies, making for an ideal partnership between the two organizations.

“Health care technologies in the form of medtech startups have been a part of the EvoNexus incubation program since our founding in 2010,” said Rory Moore, CEO/Co-Founder, EvoNexus. “To date, 55 medtech startups have been admitted to our unique program, and the innovations developed with these companies impact the point of care, whether it be in hospital or at home.

Since 2010, EvoNexus has obtained $2.6 billion in acquisitions and added 50 companies into its portfolio, 85% of which have gained more than $1.2 billion in venture funding.

“The convergence of wireless, sensors, cloud and AI will lead to better patient outcomes and lower health care costs,” added Moore. “We’re honored to partner with Sharp, and our vision is that innovators from around the country will work hand in hand the Sharp Ventures team to develop these and other technologies to make a difference in the lives of patients.”

To help ensure the seamless integration of the new partnership, John R. (Rick) LeMoine, MD, FACP, who serves as Sharp’s Chief Medical Information Officer, has joined the EvoNexus board as the Sharp HealthCare representative.

“Both EvoNexus and Sharp have a long history of bringing innovation to the Greater San Diego Area and beyond,” said LeMoine. “I am honored to be part of the EvoNexus board, and I look forward to being a part of both organizations to continue this valuable work.”
